- All modem script files mentioned in this document are now included in the
- XIRMDM.EXE self-extracting file available on our BBS and from CompuServe.
- Files in this archive include: XIRCMSM.SCR, XIRCLOT.MDM, XIRCBAN.SCT, and
- XIRCRAS.INF.

- LAPLINK FOR WINDOWS
- ===================
- LapLink for Windows ships with the CEM2 and has a modem choice for Xircom
- CEM. This choice has been verified to work with the CEM2.

- You may get an "Out of System Memory Error" when running LapLink, if too
- many programs are being loaded in the load or run statements in your
- c:\windows\win.ini file. You can troubleshoot this by temporarily editing
- out any special programs on those two statements. Make sure to make a
- backup copy of your WIN.INI file before editing it. Also make sure the
- load=c:\llw\llwload.exe is left in your WIN.INI as this is required for
- LapLink to work.

- LapLink seems to have trouble working when Card and Socket Services are
- used. If you need to use LapLink, It is recommended that you don't use
- Card and Socket Services.

- PROCOMM PLUS FOR WINDOWS 2.0
- ============================
- Procomm Plus for Windows 2.0 ships with "Xircom CEM-10BT" as a modem choice
- during modem setup.

- 1. When prompted to choose which mode of CEM to use, you can choose the
- CEM-10BT MNP4 option for the modem setup. This choice has been verified
- to work with the CEM2 adapter.

- WINCIM 1.3.1 FOR COMPUSERVE
- ===========================
- 1. When choosing a modem, choose the HAYES (generic HAYES) modem, and use
- the following init string:
- AT&FM1W2S95=47^M

- MICROSOFT MAIL
- ==============
- 1. Download the XIRMDM.EXE from the Xircom BBS or CompuServe and extract
- the XIRCMSM.SCR file.
- 2. Copy the XIRCMSM.SCR to the MS Mail Data Disk used by the administrator
- to set up clients. This will allow the Xircom Modem to appear as a
- choice during setup.

- AMERICA ONLINE FOR WINDOWS 2.0
- ==============================
- America Online for Windows 2.0 ships with a XIRCOM.MDM file. If you have
- an older version, please contact America Online for an updated version. If
- you are always being connected at 300 bps, you can edit the
- c:\aol20\mpm\XIRCOM.MDM file, and change the SETUP line to be the following:
- SETUP=AT&F&D2&Q6&K3S95=44%C0W2^M

- 1. Click on "Setup," "Setup modem" to set up America Online to use the
- Xircom modem.

- PRODIGY 1.0
- ===========
- 1. Run the Assist program that came with Prodigy for Windows and choose
- Expert Mode.
- 2. Press F5 to go to the Modem and Phone Setting.
- 3. Change the Modem Type to 2, and use the following for the modem command:
- AT&FE0&C1&B0&A0&K3&Q6\N0%C0V0. (Note: All 0s are zeros.)
- 4. Save the modem command string. Assist will automatically update the
- PRODIGY.INI file for you and allow you to use the Xircom Modem.

- LOTUS NOTES
- ===========
- 1. Download the XIRMDM.EXE from the Xircom BBS or CompuServe and extract
- the XIRCLOT.MDM file.
- 2. Copy this XIRCLOT.MDM file to the default directory where your Lotus
- Notes was installed.
- 3. Run Lotus Notes and select "Tools," "Setup," "Ports."
- 4. Select the Com Port to use, then select "Additional setup."
- 5. Scroll down the Modem Type list and select the Xircom modem.
- 6. Type in XIRCLOT.MDM when prompted what modem script file to use.

- LOTUS CC:MOBILE
- ===============
- 1. Download the XIRMDM.EXE from the Xircom BBS or CompuServe and extract
- the XIRCLOT.MDM file.
- 2. Copy the XIRCLOT.MDM file to the default directory where your Lotus
- cc:Mobile MDM files are stored.
- 3. Setup Lotus cc:Mobile to use this XIRCLOT.MDM file.

- BANYAN VINES 5.5 PC DIAL-IN
- ===========================
- 1. Copy the PC DIAL-IN workstation disk to your local Hard disk.
- 2. Download the XIRMDM.EXE from the Xircom BBS or CompuServe and extract
- the XIRCBAN.SCT file.
- 3. Copy the XIRCBAN.SCT file to the Banyan directory.
- 4. Run SETDIAL, add autodial connection, and type in XIRCBAN.SCT when
- prompted for the connection script file.
- 5. Run CM2DRIVE to enable the Modem before running the BAN command.

- MS RAS REMOTE ACCESS SERVER
- ===========================
- 1. Make sure you have installed Windows for Workgroups to work with the
- network part of the CEM2.
- 2. Choose NDIS2 support during network setup.
- 3. Make sure that the Local Network part works fine and that you can access
- the modem using the TERMINAL program in Accessories before proceeding
- to the next step.

- . NOTE:
- . If you decide not to use the network part, you can enable the
- . modem only by running CM2DRIVE before going into Windows for
- . Workgroups. In either case, always make sure that TERMINAL can
- . see and talk to your modem before proceeding to the next step.

- 4. Download the XIRMDM.EXE from the Xircom BBS or CompuServe and extract
- the XIRCRAS.INF file.
- 5. Copy the XIRCRAS.INF file to the c:\windows\system directory.
- 6. Install RAS into Windows for Workgroups.
- 7. Exit Windows and go to the c:\windows\system directory.
- 8. Back up the original MODEM.INF with the following command:
- COPY MODEM.INF MODEM.BAK
- 9. You will need to append the Xircom entries to the end of the MODEM.INF
- file. To do this, issue the following commands:
- COPY MODEM.INF+XIRCRAS.INF MODEM.NEW
- COPY MODEM.NEW MODEM.INF
- 10. Go into Windows Network Setup, and configure RAS to use the XIRCOM modem.

- To obtain technical support for your Xircom product, please call or send
- a facsimile to the appropriate number listed below. Access the Xircom
- INFOSYS BBS at up to 14400 bps, No parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit
- (N-8-1). Use ANSI or TTY for your terminal emulation as the Xircom BBS
- PCs do not support DEC VT-type terminal emulations.
