  9. All modem script files mentioned in this document are now included in the 
  10. XIRMDM.EXE self-extracting file available on our BBS and from CompuServe.  
  11. Files in this archive include: XIRCMSM.SCR, XIRCLOT.MDM, XIRCBAN.SCT, and 
  12. XIRCRAS.INF.
  13.  
  14. LAPLINK FOR WINDOWS
  15. ===================
  16. LapLink for Windows ships with the CEM2 and has a modem choice for Xircom 
  17. CEM.  This choice has been verified to work with the CEM2. 
  18.  
  19. You may get an "Out of System Memory Error" when running LapLink, if too 
  20. many programs are being loaded in the load or run statements in your 
  21. c:\windows\win.ini file.  You can troubleshoot this by temporarily editing 
  22. out any special programs on those two statements.  Make sure to make a 
  23. backup copy of your WIN.INI file before editing it.  Also make sure the 
  24. load=c:\llw\llwload.exe is left in your WIN.INI as this is required for 
  25. LapLink to work.
  26.  
  27. LapLink seems to have trouble working when Card and Socket Services are 
  28. used.  If you need to use LapLink, It is recommended that you don't use 
  29. Card and Socket Services.
  30.  
  31. PROCOMM PLUS FOR WINDOWS 2.0
  32. ============================
  33. Procomm Plus for Windows 2.0 ships with "Xircom CEM-10BT" as a modem choice 
  34. during modem setup.
  35.  
  36. 1.  When prompted to choose which mode of CEM to use, you can choose the 
  37.     CEM-10BT MNP4 option for the modem setup.  This choice has been verified 
  38.     to work with the CEM2 adapter.
  39.  
  40. WINCIM 1.3.1 FOR COMPUSERVE
  41. ===========================
  42. 1.  When choosing a modem, choose the HAYES (generic HAYES) modem, and use 
  43.     the following init string:  
  44.     AT&FM1W2S95=47^M
  45.  
  46. MICROSOFT MAIL
  47. ==============
  48. 1.  Download the XIRMDM.EXE from the Xircom BBS or CompuServe and extract 
  49.     the XIRCMSM.SCR file.
  50. 2.  Copy the XIRCMSM.SCR to the MS Mail Data Disk used by the administrator 
  51.     to set up clients.  This will allow the Xircom Modem to appear as a 
  52.     choice during setup.

  54. AMERICA ONLINE FOR WINDOWS 2.0
  55. ==============================
  56. America Online for Windows 2.0 ships with a XIRCOM.MDM file.  If you have 
  57. an older version, please contact America Online for an updated version.  If 
  58. you are always being connected at 300 bps, you can edit the 
  59. c:\aol20\mpm\XIRCOM.MDM file, and change the SETUP line to be the following:
  60. SETUP=AT&F&D2&Q6&K3S95=44%C0W2^M
  61.  
  62. 1.  Click on "Setup," "Setup modem" to set up America Online to use the 
  63.     Xircom modem.
  64.  
  65. PRODIGY 1.0
  66. ===========
  67. 1.  Run the Assist program that came with Prodigy for Windows and choose 
  68.     Expert Mode.
  69. 2.  Press F5 to go to the Modem and Phone Setting.
  70. 3.  Change the Modem Type to 2, and use the following for the modem command:
  71.     AT&FE0&C1&B0&A0&K3&Q6\N0%C0V0.  (Note:  All 0s are zeros.)
  72. 4.  Save the modem command string.  Assist will automatically update the 
  73.     PRODIGY.INI file for you and allow you to use the Xircom Modem.
  74.  
  75. LOTUS NOTES
  76. ===========
  77. 1.  Download the XIRMDM.EXE from the Xircom BBS or CompuServe and extract 
  78.     the XIRCLOT.MDM file.
  79. 2.  Copy this XIRCLOT.MDM file to the default directory where your Lotus 
  80.     Notes was installed.
  81. 3.  Run Lotus Notes and select "Tools," "Setup," "Ports."
  82. 4.  Select the Com Port to use, then select "Additional setup."
  83. 5.  Scroll down the Modem Type list and select the Xircom modem.
  84. 6.  Type in XIRCLOT.MDM when prompted what modem script file to use.
  85.  
  86. LOTUS CC:MOBILE
  87. ===============
  88. 1.  Download the XIRMDM.EXE from the Xircom BBS or CompuServe and extract 
  89.     the XIRCLOT.MDM file.
  90. 2.  Copy the XIRCLOT.MDM file to the default directory where your Lotus 
  91.     cc:Mobile MDM files are stored.
  92. 3.  Setup Lotus cc:Mobile to use this XIRCLOT.MDM file.

  94. BANYAN VINES 5.5 PC DIAL-IN
  95. ===========================
  96. 1.  Copy the PC DIAL-IN workstation disk to your local Hard disk.
  97. 2.  Download the XIRMDM.EXE from the Xircom BBS or CompuServe and extract 
  98.     the XIRCBAN.SCT file.
  99. 3.  Copy the XIRCBAN.SCT file to the Banyan directory.
  100. 4.  Run SETDIAL, add autodial connection, and type in XIRCBAN.SCT when 
  101.     prompted for the connection script file.
  102. 5.  Run CM2DRIVE to enable the Modem before running the BAN command.
  103.  
  104. MS RAS REMOTE ACCESS SERVER
  105. ===========================
  106. 1.  Make sure you have installed Windows for Workgroups to work with the 
  107.     network part of the CEM2.
  108. 2.  Choose NDIS2 support during network setup.
  109. 3.  Make sure that the Local Network part works fine and that you can access 
  110.     the modem using the TERMINAL program in Accessories before proceeding 
  111.     to the next step.

  113.     .                               NOTE:
  114.     .    If you decide not to use the network part, you can enable the 
  115.     .    modem only by running CM2DRIVE before going into Windows for 
  116.     .    Workgroups.  In either case, always make sure that TERMINAL can 
  117.     .    see and talk to your modem before proceeding to the next step.

  119. 4.  Download the XIRMDM.EXE from the Xircom BBS or CompuServe and extract 
  120.     the XIRCRAS.INF file.
  121. 5.  Copy the XIRCRAS.INF file to the c:\windows\system directory.
  122. 6.  Install RAS into Windows for Workgroups.
  123. 7.  Exit Windows and go to the c:\windows\system directory.
  124. 8.  Back up the original MODEM.INF with the following command:
  125.     COPY MODEM.INF MODEM.BAK
  126. 9.  You will need to append the Xircom entries to the end of the MODEM.INF 
  127.     file.  To do this, issue the following commands:
  128.     COPY MODEM.INF+XIRCRAS.INF MODEM.NEW
  129.     COPY MODEM.NEW MODEM.INF
  130. 10. Go into Windows Network Setup, and configure RAS to use the XIRCOM modem.

  133. XIRCOM TECHNICAL SUPPORT

  135. To obtain technical support for your Xircom product, please call or send 
  136. a facsimile to the appropriate number listed below.  Access the Xircom 
  137. INFOSYS BBS at up to 14400 bps, No parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit 
  138. (N-8-1).  Use ANSI or TTY for your terminal emulation as the Xircom BBS 
  139. PCs do not support DEC VT-type terminal emulations.
